Memory book

Puerto Rico 2011.

My first major missions trip. My first time on a plane. My first time seeing the ocean. It was an amazing trip.

While I was there, I took a bunch of pictures and journaled every night. But up until today, the pictures were stuck on the computer and the journal was in my drawer. I hadn't even looked at it since I got home.

So today I created a memory book from that trip.

I got my journal, printed off some pictures, bought a set of binder rings, some washi tape, and found a hole punch.

First, I cut out 5x7 squares of colored paper, and matted my journal. You could do it any size, but my pictures were 5x7s.

This part took way longer than I expected it to, probably 2 and a half hours. Partly because I'm a perfectionist, partly because it cut them all out separately and by hand. Next time, I'll use a paper cutter or cut multiple sheets at once.

Then I went through and punched holes for the binder rings. I only used two rings, but for thicker books, three might be better.

I used scrap paper and the washi tape to add captions to the pictures. I'd never tried washi tape, so I figured I should test it out. Honestly, I think I'd need like 15 colors to use before I'd get into it.

Tada! I really liked how it turned out! This is so much better than a notebook sitting in my dresser. I also printed pictures from my Costa Rica trip, so hopefully I get time to make that one this weekend!
