I always look at things on Pinterest and pin them and then never do them. So this challenge is a good opportunity to go back and try all the things I pinned! For example, I've pinned quite a few blackhead remover ideas, and today I tried one out!
I got this specific recipe from Petite Elefant through Pinterest. I gathered up my supplies: 1 tablespoon of unflavored gelatin, 1 tablespoon of milk, a cup, and something to apply it (I used a spoon).
I mixed the milk and the gelatin until it was a chunky consistency. (I was confused because it stayed liquid for awhile. Just keep stirring!)
Then I popped it in the microwave for 10 seconds and headed to the mirror to start applying. I used a spoon, which was a little awkward becuase it was quite thin and liquidy after it came out of the microwave. Though I think it would be awkward no matter the utensil.
No one warned me, but I think I should warn you about two things. 1. It smells bad. Really bad. But once it starts drying, the smell goes away. 2. It's really hot. I should have realized it would be, but I didn't even think about it. Again, once it starts drying, it cools down.
Once applied, my face looked really goopy. No color, just slime. Gross.
I let it sit for the recommended 10 minutes, but some spots were still slimy, so I waited until my whole face was hard to the touch. It was probably about 15 minutes total.
Then came the fun part! Peeling it off was both painful and satisfying. Painful because it pulled all the little invisible hairs out of my face (and also a few eyebrow hairs). But it was super satisfying because it peeled off in huge chunks.
It took longer than I expected to peel off, about 5-10 minutes. Immediatly after, my face was MUCH smoother (though I'm not sure if that's due to blackheads being removed or hair being removed..) I put moisturizer on right away.
From what I can see, there are still plently of blackheads on my nose. I've never had much luck getting them out with Biore blackhead strips either, so I'm not surprised. Hopefully it removed some of the gunk and oil and will leave my face healthier!
